Description

A "quick" drawing (since it just took me less than 3 days to finish) I made for my best friend living in Hong Kong and his lovely girlfriend. They have come to visit after two years and I wanted to give them something special :) I hope you like it! They loved it :D

Pencils on Extra Smooth Bristol Board.

The composition is a bit high for my taste. Perhaps you did not want all of the eyebrows in, but i think i would have gone for it.

That said, the play between eyebrows, eyes and lips is stunning in its presentation.

Nice light gradients, but they look perfunctory compared with the beautiful dark values. I would have liked to have seen smoother gradients in the face, neck and shoulder.

The eyes are flat out killer! They obviously make the drawing with their wonderful impact on the viewer. Lovely dark and rich values! And the multitude of value changes in the iris are captivating. And great attention to detail, as with the fine light value on top of the lower lids. Great execution.

And the great execution and deep rich values of the eyes are echoed in the lips. Her lips are spot on in their proportions and modeling. And more great use of highlights in the lips there again as well.

Again, i would like to see the dark value right under the lips smoothed out.

And last, but still important is her nose. Her nose is not as important as the eyes and lips to the composition, but you did it well and helps to make the piece darn near perfect.

In fact, if those gradients and the dark value under her lips are your style, then perhaps this drawing is perfect.

Anyway...it's a very beautiful and strong piece of work! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/c/c…" width="20" height="20" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="60" title="Clap"/>
